Practical Ways To Have A More Eco-Friendly Business

Practical Ways To Have A More Eco-Friendly Business

Global warming and climate change are such huge issues, that it can be pretty complex to sit down and dissect.

And because it is such a huge topic, it can feel that it is only relevant to large corporations to have to deal with it.

After all, global businesses will be having more of a footprint on the planet than smaller businesses, and they have a huge number of employees for the message to trickle down to.

But really, at the end of the day, it is something that all businesses need to make an effort to do something about, no matter the size of the business.

Small actions can make a difference, especially if more and more people are making changes. So not only does it make it something that is better for the environment, but makes it better for your business too; you can improve the reputation of your business and could even help sales if you are seen as a business that is keen to make changes.

So with that in mind, here are some of the small things that your business can do to make sure that it is playing its part in helping the planet.

Conserve Water

Water is precious, and as such, it is important to make sure that it is not wasted. Simple things like getting water storage or water butts can be a good idea, and can be used in the local community if needed. You could also spend a small amount of time to fix leaks on taps and piping to save your business lots of water, but also lots of money.

Green Cleaning

Having an office or work environment that is only cleaned with chemicals is bad for everyone. It can impact the air quality of the office making it bad for you, as well as impacting the environment and things like aquatic life. Non-toxic and natural products are going to be better all around.

Recycling

Something as simple as getting separate bins for things that are recyclable and things that aren’t, in and around the office, can encourage more people to think about what they are using and what bin to put it in. If you have a warehouse or use a lot of cardboard, then looking at something like cardboard balers could be a good idea to encourage you to do more and recycle the cardboard that you use up. Again, small actions can make a big difference.

Ditch Disposables

In a similar vein, it is such a good idea to ditch the disposables in your office. Do you have disposable cups for water or for coffee and tea? If you do, it is a good idea to replace them with each team member having a bottle or a mug. It reduces how much you throw away that isn’t going to be recycled (as things that have been stained or dirtied up by something like coffee aren’t going to be recycled). Plus, it will also save money in the long term too.
