Harvard Develop Stem Cell Based Cure For Type 1 Diabetes
Something that could transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of type 1 diabetes sufferers in the UK, Harvard University have announced the imminent development of a cure using stem cell technology.
400,000 people in the UK alone are living with type 1 diabetes, and millions world-wide.
Doug Melton who has been working for 23 years on a cure, announced with Harvard University that they have been able to manufacture millions of the beta cells required for transportation.
The cells when transported into the body go on to produce insulin for several months, completely reducing the need for daily insulin injections.
The new technology is only a few steps from being able to be approved and then mass produced.
“We are now just one pre-clinical step away from the finish line”
